Welcome from the Artistic Director

I am delighted to welcome you to The Castletown Concerts 2009, the second year of this series in partnership with the Office of Public Works at Castletown, and one which marks the 10th birthday of Camerata Ireland. 

In this year’s programme, we feature works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Kinsella and Mendelssohn, whose 200th anniversary is celebrated this year.

Supporting and encouraging young musicians is a key part of Camerata Ireland’s ethos, and we look forward to working with musicians from both NUI Maynooth and the Kildare County Orchestra in a number of workshops and masterclasses that the public are welcome to attend. We also present performances from the Ensemble Avalon, Alex Kobrin and Sophie Cashell, young musicians with whom Camerata Ireland is proud to have an association.

Finally, I am privileged to work with such a dedicated and talented group of musicians as Camerata Ireland. Come and celebrate our 10th anniversary with us at Castletown this September.
